Milwaukee gears up for 23rd annual Santa Cycle Rampage

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The cool streets of Milwaukee will soon be alive with the festive spirit as the Wisconsin Bike Fed prepares for its 23rd annual Santa Cycle Rampage.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2, invites participants to don their holiday best for a charity ride through the city.

This year's Rampage promises a blend of holiday cheer and community spirit. Jake Newborn, Assistant Director of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin Educational Foundation, Inc., also known as the Wisconsin Bike Fed, highlighted the event's unique character.

"We expect over 1,800 Santas, elves, reindeer and more, celebrating cycling and supporting our foundation," he said. Funds raised will boost the Bike Fed's initiatives, including bike education for kids and free repair services for low-income residents.

Participants have multiple ride options, including a 12-mile full loop from the Bike Fed office, a 6-mile half ride starting at Hollander Grand Cafe and a new 3-mile family-friendly Elf Cycle Frenzy. This shorter route, led by Safe Routes to School instructors, will explore the Bay View neighborhood, rounding off with hot cocoa.

Riders are encouraged to get creative with their costumes. The day will begin and end at Wheel and Sprocket in Bay View, featuring warm drinks and fire pits to welcome the riders.
