MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee firefighters are putting smiles on the faces of thousands of children in Milwaukee.
They passed out more than 5,000 new winter coats as part of their "Warm Up Winter" campaign. Some of the kids wouldn't even be able to get to school safely if it weren't for this effort to keep them covered up.
"They have a nice warm coat to get to school. Once they're here, they also need to go outside and have a good recess so this will give them the opportunity to go outside and have a good recess as well. You see the smiles on the faces of the families, that makes us feel good inside," said Lt. Harold Johnson with the Milwaukee Fire Department.
