MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- February is Black History month.
At CBS 58, we have and continue to recognize excellence, changemakers, and great causes in the Black Community. Throughout the month, we will feature those stories including the work that Milwaukee Film, showcasing Black cinema curated by the Black Lens Program.
"This program seeks to bring movies to Milwaukee and find ways to engage these films with the black community here. So, it's not that we're only bring films that are entertaining, we're bring films that are educational, we're bring films that are experimental and a little bit different a little bit of the beaten path so that we can continue to explore ourselves outside the confines of that we exist in with this city," said Black Lens programmer, Marquise Mays.
We will hear more from him later in the month about the month-long event and its importance. We are also diving into the topic of Black representation in cinema.
Be sure to watch our reports all month long on air and online.
