Milwaukee Diaper Mission celebrates first birthday party, community event Sunday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Diaper Mission, a local nonprofit organization that works to distribute disposable and reusable diapering and period supplies to families in need, is celebrating its first birthday with a community celebration this Sunday, Oct. 3.

Officials say the public event is free and will run from 2-5 p.m. at South Shore Park in Milwaukee.

“The Milwaukee Diaper Mission does incredible work to meet a critical need within our community, and I’m proud to have them as a member of the 14th District,”  said Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, whose district houses the Milwaukee Diaper Mission and site of the celebration.

The event will reportedly include a petting farm, live music, cider tasking, food and more.

Organizers say that since launching in September 2020, the Milwaukee Diaper Mission has distributed 162,616 disposable diapers, 89,802 disposable period products, 1,946 reusable cloth diapers, 1,064 reusable cloth pads and 173 reusable menstrual cups.
