We heard Wednesday afternoon from the man who plans to run for Milwaukee County Sheriff next year.
"I'm a person who has never forgotten where he's come from."
Former Milwaukee Police Officer Earnell Lucas was at the Milwaukee Press Club Luncheon today.
He won't grade Sheriff David Clarke but said he won't ask his deputies to enforce immigration laws. That was something Sheriff Clarke wants to do under a Homeland Security Program called 287-G.
"To enforce an administrative law such as 287-G would only put a chilling effect on the ability of the men and women of the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and law enforcement agencies around the country to perform their duties."
Lucas also said he wants to restore pride in the men and women of the Sheriff's Office.
