CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County will receive $1.8 million in state grant funding for violence prevention efforts, County Executive David Crowley announced on Tuesday, March 24.
The funding includes about $238,700 for suicide prevention and firearm storage and about $1.57 million for violence intervention and outreach programs, according to the county.
Crowley said the money will support work throughout 2026. County officials say the funding will go toward efforts led by the Department of Health and Human Services and its community violence intervention network.
The new grant program drew more than 460 applications statewide, and officials say 73 grants were awarded after additional funding was added to expand the program.
