MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Swimming lessons aren't just fun, they're a proven way to reduce drownings.
But sometimes the cost can turn people away.
Milwaukee Recreation and the American Red Cross are teaming up to make safety swimming available to more children and families in the Milwaukee area.
"For the first time in Wisconsin, we're able to team up with our swim partner, Milwaukee Rec, and offer $5 swim lessons at four pools," said Justin Kern, Communications Officer with the American Red Cross. "And it's all about making swim safety accessible and available to everyone -- children and their families."
Sign-up begins Tuesday, Dec. 10 and the actual programs kick off in January.
You can sign up online on the Milwaukee County Recreation website.
