WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A major milestone was announced in Wauwatosa Tuesday, in the county's Vision Zero initiative.

Vision Zero is a project committed to eliminating all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by the year 2037.

All 19 Milwaukee County municipalities developed safety action plans, with the idea of fixing hazardous roads and preventing reckless driving. Although this is a huge step towards his administration's goal, County Executive David Crowley says their work is far from over.

"No matter what part of the county you live in, no matter what type of transportation you depend on, we need our streets to be safe," Executive Crowley said. "And I am proud of the work we have done and look forward to what's ahead as we continue our journey towards Vision Zero."

In addition, Crowley's administration is preparing to leverage $25 million in federal funding, which would be invested in the county's road infrastructure.
