Milwaukee County launching 'Safe Streets Roadshow' to improve road safety

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new safety initiative is taking form under the banner of the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation. The Complete Communities Transportation Planning Project aims to increase multimodal safety and mitigate reckless driving in all 19 municipalities of Milwaukee County.

The initiative, supported by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Alternatives Program and aligned with the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All program, is set to launch the "Safe Streets Roadshow" on Wednesday, June 8.

The first events are scheduled in Brown Deer and Greenfield.

The roadshow, taking place throughout summer, will visit each of Milwaukee County’s 19 municipalities, seeking resident feedback on the impact of reckless driving. The aim is formulating a comprehensive, data-driven plan to address the root causes of reckless driving and protect vulnerable road users.

The project is expected to conclude by the end of 2024.
