MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors held a celebration Monday evening for Black History Month.
For the first time, Milwaukee city leaders held the program during the evening hours so more of the community could attend.
The theme was 'Black Migrations' and celebrated the contributions that the black community has made to America.
"Today we are battling racism, we're battling division, and it's important to recognize and honor one another and just pay homage to all the things that led us to this journey today," said Marcelia Nicholson, First Vice Chairwoman.
The event also featured a presentation titled 'Shoulders On The Great Ones We Stand On.'
It recognized the accomplishments of black Milwaukee County Supervisors both past and present.
