MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- America is celebrating Black History Month and there was a nice presentation down at the Milwaukee County Courthouse on Thursday morning.
First, there was a display dedicated to the achievements and the struggles of black Americans. Then, the "Black Caucus" from the Milwaukee County Board talked to reporters. The group includes 62-year-old Michael Mayo Sr. who says he's seen a lot of black history.
"Black people are always contributing to this country on a daily, daily basis. Remember that. Even with you. Sometime before you came here, you didn't have a cultural experience until you met somebody, but that enlightened you, how other cultures could help you," said Mayo.
This year's county board celebration honors black American veterans.
