MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of meals were distributed at the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center in Milwaukee ahead of Thanksgiving on Monday, Nov. 24.
The "Make a Family Smile Turkey Drive" started as a small batch of donations and eventually grew to help thousands of Milwaukee families. The giveaway has been running for over 10 years.
Dee McCollum, director of the Martin Luther King Community Center, said the feeling from helping others never gets old.
"Every year it's those three or four or five families that say we don't know how much this has impacted their families for the holidays," McCollum said.
McCollum said this year's drive would help around 2,500 people across the community.
