Milwaukee Brewer Scooter Gennett puts pottery hobby to work for charity

Brewers Second Baseman Scooter Gennett is into pottery. On Tuesday, he put that hobby to work for charity.

He was featured in Tuesday's edition of \"Our Stories with Michele\" a regular feature on the CBS 58 News at 4:00 p.m. that focuses on people giving back to the community.

\"It was a lot of fun,\" Gennett told CBS 58 News. \"For me, when I get to do pottery it's always a good time. Obviously, it was for a great cause. So, it doesn't get much better than that.\"

Gennett took part in a pottery lesson at \"Creative Fire\"  in Wauwatosa.

He shared what he knows with some local fans who won the lesson at auction. The proceeds going to the Lungevity group which provides support for those battling lung cancer.

Gennett says pottery is something that helps take your mind off your trouble. \"I find it relaxing.\"

The Breisemeister family surprised their daughter Rebecca with the pottery lesson at Christmas.

\"I screamed and then cried,\" recalled Rebecca.

She says waiting all these months for the actual day to arrive went by slowly as anticipation kept building.

\"It's been really slow,\" said Rebecca. \" I was waiting for this. I was excited the whole time.\"

All well worth the wait for an invaluable effort combining a love of the game with a connection to community.
