Milwaukee Art Museum is 1 step closer to becoming a LEGO set

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Art Museum is one step closer to becoming a LEGO set.

Artist Vida András created the model depicting Santiago Calatrava's Milwaukee Art Museum pavilion -- saying he was inspired by the architectural language Calatrava is using.

"Trying to represent the beautiful curves and lines from the real building was challenging, but after some structure tests and shape studies, I arrived at my build. The rib-like complex shapes are really inspiring for me," András said about the project.

LEGO announced the art museum design qualified in the top 25 product ideas for the third 2020 LEGO Ideas Review. This means the model reached 10,000 supporters between Sept. 2020 and Jan. 4, 2021.

Next up, the 25 eligible ideas will move on to a review period that begins on May 3. A winner will be chosen and an official LEGO set will be created!
