Milwaukee Air & Water Show to return to the skies during summer 2022

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The sounds of thunder will once again dominate Milwaukee’s blue skies during Summer, 2022. The Milwaukee Air & Water Show announced they will return!

According to a news release, WaterStone Bank will once again return as the Presenting Sponsor of the event, which will take place July 23rd and 24th, along Milwaukee’s spectacular Lakefront. A special press conference to announce the details of the 2022 event will be held in Milwaukee with the Blue Angels Advance Team on November 30th, 2021.

“We are excited to sponsor the 2022 Milwaukee Air & Water Show featuring the Blue Angels.” shared Doug Gordon, CEO of WaterStone Bank. “The Air & Water Show is a summer staple enjoyed by families in our community and throughout the state.”

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will bring their impressive array of close-in flight maneuver demonstrations to Milwaukee, and for the first time, will start flying the F/A-18 E/F “Super Hornet” fighter jet, replacing the legacy F/A-18 Hornets that the team has flown for 34 years. The Northrop- Grumman F/A-18 Super Hornet multi-role fighter is the Navy’s safest and most reliable tactical carrier aircraft.

The Blue Angels’ final flight in the legacy F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet has now been completed, and the team will start their seasonal winter training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. Founded in 1946, the Blue Angels showcase the pride and professionalism of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps for the more than 500 million fans who have seen the team perform. 2022 also marks the Blue Angels' 36th year flying the Northrop-Grumman F/A-18 Hornet.

“Every year, the Milwaukee Air & Water Show brings world-class military and civil acts to the city for a spectacular show. Because we are the largest free event in the state of Wisconsin, the support from our partners, including WaterStone Bank, is vital. We are incredibly grateful for their ongoing commitment to our community and are thrilled to see the Navy Blue Angels back in action again next summer,” said Paul Rogers, president of the Milwaukee Air & Water Show.

The Milwaukee Air & Water Show, which draws nearly 400,000 people to Milwaukee’s lakeshore every year, has a significant economic impact on the city, provides the community with a meaningful understanding of our nation’s armed forces and supports military veterans.
