Microburst hits Dane County Wednesday

SUN PRAIRIE-Dane County officials say 9,000 homes lost power after storms rolled through Wednesday morning.

They also saw a tornado warning issued for Sun Prairie around 8 a.m.

But after surveying the damage in the afternoon, the experts have now determined it was a microburst with 80 mile per hour winds that causes trees to be ripped right out of the ground.

Resident Randy Wagner says no matter what it was, he and his neighbors got the worst of it and there is a lot of work ahead.

\"We did get lucky. No one got hurt,\" Wagner told Madison Bureau Reporter David Ade. \"We're all here, we're all safe, that's the main thing.\"
