MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police issued a release Friday morning that they are investigating the fatal fire as an arson and homicide. 

The fire near 24th and Capitol was reported just after 5:45 a.m. 

Police say the deceased is an adult man and the house was vacant. Milwaukee Fire tells CBS 58 the fire was in a very small area of the basement and it appeared the body was already dead before the fire was set. 

Police are searching for a suspect and a motive.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirms one adult is dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a house fire near 24th and Capitol. The fire has been put out.
