Metro Market stocks up on fresh turkeys as time to thaw for Thanksgiving runs out

SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- If you haven't started thawing your turkey, you may be running out of time. Thanksgiving is just days away, and some birds can take a week to thaw. Metro Market dietician and corporate affairs manager, Emilie Williamson, says the store wants to make it easier on families as they prep and cook.

"If you're just thinking today 'oh my God, I need a turkey. The fresh bird is the way to go," said Williamson. Metro Market is stocking up on fresh turkeys and even prime rib-- for those looking for a less traditional Steaksgiving.

You can find easy, both, traditional and non-traditional, recipes on the Pick ' Save website. One of Williamson's favorites is this easy Mexicali mac n cheese.

"A local vendor, Salsa King, has this Mexicali Dip and he was telling me how he made mac and cheese with it," she said. "It's super easy. You can use fresh pasta; You can use traditional dried pasta; You can use instant pasta and then mix it with that dip for a really nice Thanksgiving side."

You can find more recipes and a calculator on how long to thaw out your bird here.
