Menomonee Falls woman charged for driving drunk with kids in the car after off-duty cop calls in tip

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Menomonee Falls woman is charged with driving drunk with minors in the car after an off-duty Brookfield officer called in a tip to police.

Tammy Schuster, 41, is charged with first offense OWI with a minor child in the vehicle and first-offense operating with prohibited alcohol concentration with a minor child in the vehicle.

According to the complaint, an off-duty Brookfield officer saw a vehicle being driven by Schuster swerving between lanes and nearly hitting a light pole while traveling northbound on Pilgrim Road around 11:00 p.m. February 2. Schuster was then seen dropping off a 14-year-old in the area of Steven Mack Drive before continuing to drive towards Belleview Boulevard where she was stopped by Menomonee Falls officers. Two children, a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old also got out of the car.

Schuster told police she was coming back from a spaghetti dinner with family members of her son’s hockey team.  When asked by officers if she’d been drinking she said, “a little.” When asked how much, she told the officer, “probably just three glasses of wine.”

Officers said Schuster failed field sobriety tests and she was taken to the Menomonee Falls Police Department for a breathalyzer test where she blew a .15.
