Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Second Chance
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At a time when most graduating seniors are not getting their high school diplomas in person, there was an emotional exception Friday.
A young girl with a heartbreaking story saw one of her dreams come true.
"If we would have had a regular graduation, my daddy wouldn't have made it," said graduate Kenyette Edwards. "So to do it in front of his house is just -- I don't know, words just can't describe it."
Kenyette Edwards lives in Milwaukee, but attended Menomonee Falls High School.
Her father was recently placed in hospice care and she wanted desperately for him to see her graduate.
Friday, her principal delivered her diploma so her dad and a bunch of cheering supporters could enjoy the moment.
"Grown very close to this family and just needed a helping hand to help fulfill her dream and her dream number one is graduating, and number two is so her dad could see her," said Principal Bob Vitale.
A "Best Dad" plaque was presented to Kenyette's father as well.
