MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Meijer and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee are teaming up for an annual toy drive.
The goal is to collect 1,500 toys. On Friday, December 4, Meijer donated nearly 700 toys.
“This year when you think about everything that's going on in the world, we felt it was extremely important to make sure that not only do we do this quickly, but we do it the right way and make sure every child in this program has the opportunity to participate,” Meijer store director Michael Barney said.
Many hope the toy drive brings not only happiness to children, but relief to parents.
"Parents are tired. They're working really hard. A lot of them have lost their jobs in some cases,” Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee Vice President of Development Nicole Gulatz said. “So for Meijer to be able to do this with such a generous donation is just amazing."
People are invited to purchase gifts virtually for a child or donate on the Boys and Girls Club website.
