Meet Pink Halo: The indie duo getting Summerfest moving

Pink Halo

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Summerfest, there's music for every mood and if you're looking to dance, Pink Halo is a must-see!

CBS 58's Alex Corradetti interviewed the duo made up of Summer Wuestenberg and Julian Russell.

Pink Halo is performing on the Generac Power Stage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 21st. The Milwaukee crowd can expect more than just catchy melodies—Pink Halo promises a full-on dance party.

"If you’re coming to our set, you can expect to dance a lot,” said Summer. “We love to get people moving. We bring in a full band live—so it’s high energy and a really fun time," said Wuestenberg.

Formed during the pandemic, Pink Halo started when the couple—already together romantically—decided to collaborate musically.

"“I was in a band, and we needed a singer. Summer joined, and when that group fizzled out, we kept going,” Julian explained. “We were living together during COVID and started writing more music. The rest is what you see now," explained Russell.

The two share the songwriting process equally, often pulling inspiration from past voice memos or forgotten ideas.

“Sometimes we write something brand new, other times we’ll dig out an idea from years ago and rework it into one of our new favorite songs,” said Julian.

As they prepare for Summerfest, they’re also hard at work on their first full-length album, aiming for a release in late 2025 or early 2026.

“We’ve released a few singles over the years, but now we’re in the recording process,” said Summer. “If you want to keep up with what we’re doing, we’re everywhere on social media," said Wuestenberg.

For first-time listeners, their mission is simple: bring joy, connection, and a little sweat.

“If you want to see a band that makes you move your body and puts energy into the world—then we’re the band to see,” said Russell.

You can catch Pink Halo at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 21st on the Generac Power Stage at Summerfest.
