MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Green Bay Packers player Gilbert Brown is raising money to help honor two Milwaukee Police Officers killed in the line of duty last year.
The names of Officer Charles Irvine Jr. and Officer Michael Michalski are being added to The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. during National Police Week 2019. The Milwaukee Police Association Fallen Heroes Inc. and the Milwaukee Police Department are partnering to raise funds to offset the costs for travel expenses for officers and the immediate family members of Officers Charles Irvine Jr. and Michael Michalski. Both Officer Irvine and Officer Michalski were killed in the line of duty in 2018.
Gilbert Brown will be bartending at Blu at the top of the Pfister Hotel at 424 E. Wisconsin Avenue from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. During the event, he will also be signing autographs for $30. A portion of every autograph will be donated to the Milwaukee Police Association Fallen Heroes Inc. Also, 10% of the bar revenue and all of the tips will be donated to the cause.
Milwaukee Police say they will also be attending National Police Week in 2020 to honor the memory of Officer Matthew Rittner who was killed in the line of duty in February 2019.
