MCTS to boost service for all weekends of Summerfest

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Transit System is expanding service for the duration of Summerfest, introducing a new shuttle route and increasing bus frequencies to accommodate festival attendees.

This year, a new shuttle will operate from the Hales Corners Park and Ride lot, complementing existing shuttles from College Avenue and Brown Deer. These shuttles start service at 11:30 a.m. and offer direct, non-stop access to and from the Summerfest grounds with the last bus leaving the grounds at 12:30 a.m.

All shuttle services are cashless, with round-trip fares maintained at $10 for adults and $5 for reduced fare riders. Payments can be made using the Umo app, credit cards or digital wallets at arrival.

The shuttles run approximately every 15 minutes.

MCTS has also extended the CONNECT 1 BRT line to The Couture transit concourse, closer to the festival’s north gate. This line will operate with increased frequency, particularly on Saturdays when buses are scheduled every 10 minutes. The service connects the Watertown Plank Road Park and Ride in Wauwatosa to downtown Milwaukee, with a flat rate of $2 each way.

For those not on a direct bus route, MCTS suggests parking near any bus route and using the transit service to reach the festival, as several standard pick up and drop off locations are near the Summerfest grounds.
