MCTS says goodbye to free bus rides; "Go Pass" users must pay starting Monday

A reminder tonight for some 11,000 people who use Milwaukee County's popular 'Go Pass' program.

Bus rides will no longer be free starting Monday.

'Go Pass' allowed people who met certain qualifications to ride MCTS buses free of charge.

Officials say they gave away 15 million rides. They tell us this had an impact on MCTS's budget.

"We rely on our fare revenue to keep the buses running. I think most people understood that free rides were going to be unsustainable and if come Monday people have questions, our drivers are prepared to answer questions."

People who qualify for 'Go Passes' will be able to ride the bus for 1 dollar and 10 cents a day.
