MCTS Contract Talks to Resume

Contract talks will resume Monday between Milwaukee County and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 998, the MCTS bus drivers' union.

The two sides last met on July 30th, where both parties agreed that progress was being made.

The County offered the Union a new offer, but details have not be unveiled. It is the first offer since the drivers and mechanics walked off the job for a 3-day stoppage during Summerfest. Union president James Macon hasn't ruled out another strike, but says he is going to the bargaining table in good faith.

The bargaining session on August 10th will include a Federal Mediator with hopes of finalizing a four year contract.
