McDonald's receipts lead to the arrest of 2 suspects accused of damaging family's home while on vacation

RACINE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- Two suspects have been taken into custody, accused of causing nearly $18,000 in damage to a family's home while they were on vacation.

Officers were called to the home on Dover Lane in Wind Lake for a report of a burglary back in April of 2017. The family told police that they left for vacation and that their home was secured. When the family arrived home, they located partially eaten food in the fridge, clothing items, Newport cigarettes, and McDonald's bags with receipts.

The family observed that money was taken from an arcade machine and a piggy bank.

According to the family, several things were also broken and the family's throw rug, carpet, clothes, and shoes were burned.

The family also observed damage to the grass consistent with someone riding a snowmobile around the property. The total estimated property loss was valued at $17,976.

Investigators were able to use the McDonald's receipts to identify the intruders through surveillance video. The suspects were identified as Marina Bruno and Tayler Kuechler.

The suspects admitted to being in the house with their friends while the family was away on vacation.

They are now facing charges of Felony Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass.
