Mayor Barrett to spend second night in hospital

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will spend an additional night in the hospital after over exerting himself during a 20-kilometer run at the Pettit Ice Center Sunday.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett completed a 20-kilometer run on Sunday, but ended up receiving medical treatment for exhaustion.  The Mayor, who recently marked his 60th birthday, participated in an organized run indoors at the Pettit Ice Center that concluded around mid-day.

The Mayor was taken to Froedtert Hospital where a series of tests were conducted.  Health care professionals concluded the Mayor was dehydrated and showing other signs of over-exertion.

Mayor Barrett is now being treated at the Wisconsin Heart Hospital.  Doctors conducted additional tests on Monday, and according to a Barrett spokesman, found \"nothing alarming.\"  The Mayor continues to monitor city business from his hospital bed, and spoke to his staff by phone twice Monday.
