Mayor Barrett outlines budget, focus on public safety, jobs

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says his budget freezes taxes in Milwaukee, commits to public safety, helps the foreclosure crisis, and job creation.  Barrett made his presentation to the Milwaukee Common Council.  He says the city will commit funding for 100 new police officers, as well as body cameras for officers.  He will add 13 new fire cadets for the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Barrett also says the new downtown arena is another project that will help move Milwaukee forward.  The Milwaukee Common Council approved the city's portion of the financing plan about two hours after Barrett's budget proposal.
