The Port of Milwaukee will now be called 'Port Milwaukee.' That was part of an unveiling by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett Friday Morning.
In addition to the new name, there is a new logo with a picture of planet Earth, along with the tagline: Connecting To The World.
Mayor Barrett says the image reinforces the importance of the port to Milwaukee and also highlight its role in both the economy, and domestic and international transportation.
“Each year we have ships that come in here, bringing materials, sending materials to very different parts of the world. And we are very very proud of that. But it’s not just the ships. We have great rail connections, we have great interstate highway connections, and that is part of what we use as the connecting point,” explained Mayor Barrett.
The logo was designed by Milwaukee design and marketing professional Tina Klose.
