MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- When the semester started in January, students in the MATC horticulture department began growing flowers, house plants, greenery and more in the greenhouses at the Mequon campus. Now, it's time for the annual plant sale.

"We’ve been holding this plant sale since landscape horticulture has been on this campus, so the mid-1970s," said Cassie Panaro, the lead faculty member in the MATC landscape horticulture department.

The one-day-only sale takes place on Saturday, May 11, and doors open at 9 a.m.

"We also have hanging baskets, which is a big hit for people to purchase for moms," said Panaro.

The event has become a tradition for the school and for people who come to shop. All of the proceeds go to fund trips for the horticulture club at MATC.
