MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On January 15, 1929, the great Civil Rights Activist Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta.
Today at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), a birthday celebration was held to honor Dr. King's historic legacy.
The event included remarks from a number of guests, reflecting on the impact of Dr. King's mission.
"It was a moral vision grounded in action, representing a society where justice, peace and love are not slogans but daily practices," said Reverand Dr. Demetrius K. Williams of the Community Baptist Church of Greater Milwaukee.
The event also included remarks from Mayor Cavalier Johnson, along with MATC"s vocal ensemble rendition of 'Lift Every Voice and Sing.'
