Mask burning rally to be held at Milwaukee bar on June 1

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As Milwaukee is set to retire the citywide mask mandate beginning Tuesday, June 1, retired Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan and the Wisconsin Conservative Digest announced they will co-host a mask burning event that evening to celebrate at McKiernan's Irish Pub and Grill.

According to a news release, all are welcome to join former Alderman Donovan and Wisconsin Conservative Digest along with Pastor of God Touch Milwaukee Marty Calderone, Paris Procopis of the Wisconsin Conservative Digest, Representative Dan Knodl, and former Mlwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.

The event in McKiernan's Irish Pub and Grill, located at 2066 South 37th Street, will kick off at 5 p.m.

Donovan is treating every guest to enjoy one beer on his behalf, the release says.

“Independence Day comes early this year," Donovan was quoted in the news release.
