Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes speaks at Milwaukee's Marshall High School graduation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Class of 2019 at Milwaukee's John Marshall High School was treated to a graduation rap today which was created by members of the school staff.

About 200 Marshall students got their diplomas at a ceremony at the UWM Panther Arena.

The commencement speaker was Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes -- Marshall class of 2003.

"But regardless of what anybody says, what anybody expects, I'm here as the walking, talking, standing and speaking proof that your time spent in those classrooms, in those halls and in Marshall High School will take you places. Places much further than 64th and Fiebrantz," said Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.

The Lieutenant Governor was also given a special award at the ceremony from the Marshall Alumni Association.
