Marquette's Tyler Kolek wins first NBA title with New York Knicks
CBS 58 SAN ANTONIO, Texas (CBS 58) -- The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, June 13 to capture the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
Kolek is the seventh former Marquette player to win an NBA ring, joining names such as Dwyane Wade, Doc Rivers and Butch Lee. Juan Toscano-Anderson was the most recent, winning with the Golden State Warriors in 2022.
The guard averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 assists in 62 games during his sophomore season and appeared in eight playoff games, though he did not see the floor in the Finals.
Kolek played a larger role in December, helping the Knicks beat that same Spurs squad to win the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup. He came off the bench in the final in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Dec. 16, scoring 14 points with 5 assists and 5 rebounds as New York rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit.
He finished December scoring a career-high 20 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves, to go along with 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
