Marquette Women’s Volleyball to celebrate 50th anniversary this weekend

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Marquette Women’s Volleyball is celebrating 50 years of the program this weekend.

Tom Mendoza, Head Coach of Marquette Women’s Volleyball, says the program is inviting alumni, family, and fans to reconnect with former teammates. There will be opportunities to meet the current team and hear from Mendoza himself as the Golden Eagles take on their Big East rivals.

“I’m just appreciative. This is my first year at Marquette. I’ve been in the Big East before, and I knew how special of a place it is. So, I’m very appreciative for everyone that’s shown us support, coming to games,” Mendoza said.

• Kick off the weekend with a special pregame gathering. Enjoy delicious food, reconnect with fellow alumni, and gear up for a night of high-energy volleyball.

Marquette Women’s Volleyball vs. St. John’s

• Match to follow reception.
• Cheer on the Golden Eagles as they take on BIG EAST rival St. John’s. Complimentary tickets provided.
• Introduction of the 1975 team between the 2nd and 3rd sets and an all-class gathering post-game.

Open Volleyball Practice + Meet the Team

• Enjoy exclusive access to a live team practice, light refreshments, and hear insights from Head Coach Tom Mendoza on the program’s continued growth and success.
• For those attending the Marquette Women's Basketball game at the same time, you may join volleyball practice during halftime with your exclusive credentials.

Marquette Women’s Basketball vs. Wisconsin

• 2:00 p.m.
• Catch a marquee matchup as the Golden Eagles take on in-state rival Wisconsin. Tickets provided.
• Optional: Historic Marquette Gym Tour
• Immediately following the Marquette WBB game vs. Wisconsin
• Approx. 4:00 p.m.
• Al McGuire Center lobby
• Join us for a special campus tour exclusively for volleyball alumni following the Marquette Women’s Basketball vs. Wisconsin game. All interested volleyball alumni are invited to gather in the Al McGuire Center lobby immediately after the game, where our tour will begin. We will journey across campus for a nostalgic walk through the historic Marquette Gym, back to where it all began.
