The Golden Eagles are headed back to the NCAA Tournament!
Marquette’s coaches and players cheered Sunday afternoon as they received a 10 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Eagles will head to Greenville to play South Carolina in the first round on Friday.
The game will start at 8:50 central time and will air on TBS.
Marquette hasn’t been in the field of 68 since 2013, when they advanced to the Elite Eight in Washington, D.C.
Steve Wojciechowski led Marquette to a 19-win season, highlighted by back-to-back wins over then 7th-ranked Creighton and top ranked Villanova. MU won four of its last five regular season games, but dropped its opening game in the Big East Tournament, 82-76 to Seton Hall.
Marquette’s last Final Four appearance came in 2003, when Dwyane Wade was a member of the team. MU won the national championship in 1977.
Congratulations to @MarquetteMBB - you're going dancing!
