MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Marquette University student who lives in a university residence hall has a confirmed case of mumps, the school reported on Thursday.
According to a release, a physician confirmed that the individual is recovering and no longer contagious.
The Marquette University Medical Clinic is working closely with the City of Milwaukee Health Department to initiate the appropriate follow-up communication with close contacts of the case.
Per university protocol, all faculty, staff and students were notified of the confirmed case of mumps and requested to watch for symptoms and take precautions to stay healthy and help prevent the spread of illness.
Marquette University released a statement which said in part,
"Marquette takes the health and well-being of our students extremely seriously. Students who may have been exposed or who think they are experiencing symptoms are encouraged to contact their health care provider or the Marquette University Medical Clinic."
