MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette High School's Science Olympiad team is gearing up for the state tournament on Saturday, April 1 after a successful showing last year.
The competition aims to promote STEM education by challenging students with science, technology, engineering and math challenges.
Last year, the team clinched the Wisconsin state tournament and placed fourth in the nation. This year, the team hopes to return to nationals and compete for the national championship.
Science teacher and team coach Nicole Williams was accompanied by four members of the school's Science Olympiad team in joining us Thursday, Mar. 2 to discuss their preparations for the upcoming competition.
The team also showcased some of the exciting STEM activities that are involved in the competition.
