Marquette High School shocked, saddened by Andrew Boldt's death

Milwaukee(WDJT) --  Marquette University High School reacted with shock and deep sadness after hearing 2010 graduate Andrew Boldt was killed in a shooting Tuesday on the campus of Purdue University.

Jean Morrell, Boldt's former calculus teacher, said she wept when she heard the news.  She describes the 21-year-old as a popular student, a driven achiever in the classroom.  Morrell wrote Boldt a letter of recommendation when he applied and was later accepted to Purdue University.  \"Not that he needed it,\" Morrell said, because Boldt's academic record was so outstanding that he would have been accepted without the letter.  

Friends say Boldt was into robotics and was on the track team at Marquette High.  Fellow 2010 graduate and teammate Arthur Cameron describes Boldt as an all-around good guy, someone who was always ready with a corny joke.  \"If you didn't know Andrew, he would try and get to know you,\" Cameron said, \"He was very outgoing.\"    

Cameron describes the all-boys school as a close-knit community, a community that is taking Boldt's loss hard.  \"We're all confused, we're all very shaken, broken by this,\" Cameron said.
