MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--Summer camp is an important rite of passage for endless number of kids each year. But because of the current pandemic, the experience has been taken away for so many youngsters.  However, it's a different story for hundreds of local children.  The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is offering day camps for those between 4 and 13 years old at nine different sites.  Music, arts and crafts, games, swimming.  Just some of the activities offered.  Of course social distancing and plenty of hand washing are enforced. The director of the program says this opportunity couldn't come soon enough for all the campers.

Camp director Brittany Fowler says the camping experience is a great way to get away from playing videos all day along. And instead, make real life connections.  Camp also helps parents who are finally going back to work after a long stint at home.

You don't have to be a YMCA member for your child to go to their camp.  However, it'll reduce the cost for attending. Financial assistance is also available for families who need it. There are both 3 and 5-day sessions offered.  For more information about YMCA of Greater Waukesha county camps click here and for other Milwaukee area Y camps just point your clicker here.
