Manitowoc County 83-year-old receives high school diploma

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – There’s a new member to the Denmark High School class of 1952.

Norman Knuth, 83, grew up in Manitowoc County and left high school in his junior year because his dad needed help on their family farm.

After fighting in World War II, Norman came home and took over the farm and never got a chance to finish his education. Norman told his children to always appreciate school.

“You should get all the education you can. It’s so important in your life because you have your plans, what your life is, what you’re going to do, but the Lord’s got different plans for you sometimes,” Knuth said.

His daughter approached the Denmark School Board and shared her father’s story.

On Sunday, Norman was awarded his diploma and he can finally call himself a high school graduate.
