Man, Woman, 3 Dogs Rescued from ice on Lake Waubesa
MADISON, Wis. (CHANNEL 3000) -
A man, woman and their dogs were rescued from the ice on Lake Waubesa Monday morning, according to a news release.
He was able to crawl out on his own, but the two called 911 for help because they heard ice cracking around them.
The fire department’s Lake Rescue Team, ladder 6, medic 3 responded with launching at the end of Libby Road.
By the time the fire department arrived, the group had made its way across the ice toward some railroad tracks. They initially denied the need for further attention.
The Lake Rescue Team was on its way back to the fire station when the team was asked to return to Lake Waubesa because the dogs were afraid to cross the railroad bridge.
Lake Rescue re-launched the ice boat and picked up the woman and her two dogs, returning them to the shore.
One firefighter and the on-scene captain retrieved the man who fell through the ice and his dog and gave them a ride back to the parking lot.
