Man sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping women in Racine and Kenosha Counties

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man will spend 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assaults in Kenosha and Racine Counties. 

The cases against 48-year-old Matthew Crockett were cold, until the state's efforts to test backlogged sexual assault kits got a hit.

Crockett was charged with committing two sexual assault in Kenosha in 2014 and 2015. In both cases, police said he dragged his victims into a car and raped them.

Crockett pleaded guilty to three counts of second degree sexual assault. 

Friday, June 23, a judge sentenced Crockett to 18 years in prison and 18 years of extended supervision. 

Crockett must register as a lifetime sex offender. He will not be allowed to possess a firearm or vote.
