MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 60-year-old man is swimming across Lake Michigan.

The endurance athlete left Bradford Beach in Milwaukee around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Jim "The Shark" Dreyer told CBS 58 he wants to cover about 82-and-a-half miles from Milwaukee to Grand Haven, Michigan in 60 hours.

This journey is also a celebration of his own swim across Lake Michigan 25 years ago.

Dreyer is calling this swim "The Silver Sequel."

It's 25 miles longer than his 1998 trip.

"You know you only turn 60 once, get one 25th anniversary once, and so this is how I celebrate," said Dreyer. Twenty-five years later, 25 years older and 25 miles further."
