Man cited for 2nd OWI after falling asleep with car running, in drive

PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) – A man was cited for OWI 2nd offense after police found him slumped over in his running car with it in drive on Sunday.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department says deputies found the car near Redford Blvd and Homewood Court with its brake lights on.

Before waking the driver, authorities placed stop sticks in front of the vehicle in case the car rolled forward. Deputies knocked on the car window and the driver woke up and took his foot off the brake causing the car to go forward. According to the sheriff’s department, deputies yelled for the man to put his foot back on the brake and he did.

Once out of the car, authorities say they could smell intoxicants. The man was taken to a local hospital to have blood drawn.

Deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car. The driver was cited for OWI 2nd offense and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
