Man charged in Sept. 9 crash that killed a 47-year-old Stoughton woman

DUNN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Dane County Sheriff’s Office referred a Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle charge Friday, Oct. 15, to a Fitchburg man involved in a fatal crash that killed a 47-year-old Stoughton woman on Sept. 9 in the Town of Dunn, Wis.

Officials reportedly processed the charge to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office Friday for 39-year-old Eric G. Ignarski of Fitchburg.

Police say Ignarski's excess speed on the roadway was the primary cause of the crash that killed 47-year-old Sierra L. Frisch of Stoughton on Sept. 9.

Reports show that because the Dane County Jail lacks medical housing, Ignarski has not been booked into the jail due to the extent of his injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say that on Saturday, Sept. 11, at approximately 10:39 p.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a multiple vehicle fatal crash on USH 51 just north of Lake Kegonsa Rd, in the Town of Dunn.

Records show that a 2021 Toyota Camry Ignarski was driving traveled northbound on USH 51 in the southbound lane at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Frisch was driving head on, causing the Elantra to roll several times before coming to rest on its roof.

Authorities say that Ignarski was airlifted to UW ER with serious injuries, while Frisch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other drivers involved in the crash were uninjured.
