Man charged in double fatal crash in Racine

Ramone Campbell has been charged in the double fatal crash in downtown Racine on Sunday June 21.

Racine police said around 1:45 AM, a car driving south on Main Street crossed the center line, hitting another car and killing two of the three people inside.

Ramone Campbell was two counts of first degree reckless homicide, two counts of hit-and-run resulting in death, one count of hit-and-run causing great bodily harm, one count of reckless driving causing injury, one count of reckless driving causing injury, and one count of obstructing an officer.

The passenger of Campbell's car said him and Campbell had been drinking alcohol at a party. The passenger left at 8:00 pm, but wasn't sure what time Campbell left. At midnight Campbell asked him to go to Kenny's Bar.

He got into Campbell's black SUV and went to Kenny's Bar.

The two shared a Pabst beer on the way to the bar.

When they left the bar, Campbell began driving through the neighborhood around Kenny's Bar at a fast speed not stopping for signs. Campbell drove the vehicle onto Main Street and drove south.

Campbell accelerated to a high rate of speed on Main Street.

Campbell lost control and collided into another car.

The cars both ended up on the sidewalk in front of businesses.
