Man arrested after "slow speed pursuit" near Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A man is in the Fond du Lac County Jail after police say he led officers on a "slow speed pursuit."

Fond du Lac Police say they got a call from someone around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday that a 61-year-old Fond du Lac man sent messages saying he was suicidal and armed.

Police believed the man was near the Lakeside Park area and as officers were trying to find the man, he was seen walking in the area of the harbor and getting into a vehicle.

Police said they tried to set up a high-risk traffic stop however the man continued to refuse officers' orders to stop and drove his truck over two different curbs to try to get around police vehicles. He then drove at a slow speed toward his home a few blocks away. Officers followed in a "slow speed pursuit" still trying to get the man to stop. When the man arrived at his home and got out of his vehicle, police were able to physically detain him and take him into custody.

Authorities say the man did fight with the arresting officers and continued to act violently even after being detained. A gun was found in the man's vehicle.

The man was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he is being held for bail-jumping, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest.
