Pedestrian struck and killed at I-43 and Hampton

MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) -- A 54-year-old man was apparently struck and killed by a vehicle around 11 PM Saturday night on Milwaukee’s north side.   I-43 north bound was closed for about four hours as Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies and the  Milwaukee County Medical Examiner and Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident on the  I-43 off ramp at Hampton Avenue.   

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, a pedestrian was reported walking northbound on I-43 and was struck by multiple  receiving massive injuries.   The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner was notified and responded to the scene.  An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office was able to locate two vehicles involved in the accident.   The drivers were questioned about the incident and are cooperating with authorities.   Their vehicles are being held by the MCSO.  A third driver and vehicle are being sought by the Sheriff's Office.

Assisting the MCSO were the North Shore Fire Department and the Glendale and Shorewood Police Departments.

While the authorities  investigated  the accident, two other vehicles drove through the perimeter set up by the MCSO.   The cars were eventually stopped and two women were arrested.   A 20-year-old woman has been charged with three counts of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and OWI and a 30-year-old woman has been charged with OWI 2nd Offense.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office encourages motorists to look out for pedestrians walking on the Interstate and on county roads and highways. In addition, pedestrians are urged not to walk in the roadways.
